“By nature, our minds are active. Like other social animals, we ruminate on events and obsess about details. We can get lost in the past while daydreaming about the future. Part of meditation practice is becoming aware of the mind. With practice, we can notice the habitual movements of the mind and detach, finding new space for being. Eventually we may come to cultivate new states of mind such as peace and ecstasy.”
